Please stay Eddie!

But he really needs to take a long hard look at what he did wrong, as it took him to so long to give up on the slow build up play that has cost us so much this season. Stay or go not bother, if he stays plaease eddie change so of the back room staff to get someone to question what you do
I honestly don’t think slow build up play has been his intention. We actually have the 4th lowest number of ‘backwards passes’ in the league.

We just don’t have enough players able to find space in the attacking third and receive the ball on the half turn. Eddie’s rigid formations have played a part but as has a lack of effort and / or confidence.

I hope eddies has a few days rest then comes back fighting and take the team forward to promotion next season but I must admit he looked drained .We all owe a lot to him for what he has done has done it once why not twice for a return .

He should stay, the short turnaround makes it important that he does.

If he was to go it should have been earlier when we were playing the same tired formation and lacking ideas and motivation. Hopefully a mild squad shakeup freshens things up.

All of the players signed that didn't quite make it in the prem but will rely on next season were signed by him and suit his style. He has to see it through.

He'll only make a decision on his future when he gets something concrete from the power's that be, regarding the training pitches.
Yep - it's a chance to reset the plans for the next few years. If they want Eddie to stay, he needs assurances over longer term infrastructure - such as the training ground. Maybe - if the financial situation is sound enough - a couple of years in the Championship wouldn't be a bad thing to stabilise the club, and set it up for a more stable future.

I want him to stay. In normal circumstances, I’d nevertheless understand if he wanted to take a break from football for a year or so. But these aren’t normal circumstances. Due to the short turnaround before the start of the next season, I think we will be in the poo if he’s not around to provide continuity and a steadying hand. There will be enough to sort out already. Eddie is best placed to know what playing options are available within the club to replace players who will depart.

I’m hoping the better performances from the team recently will give him hope that there’s more to come.

I mean, he’s signed players like Kelly, Solanke, Stacey, Mepham, Brooks and many more in the hopes of making them top class players. The whole squad is his project. Would be pretty shitty to abandon ship from this perspective imo.

But you also couldn’t begrudge the man a sabbatical, could you.
100% this. The recent performances vs Leicester and Everton will hopefully give Eddie hope that good times lie ahead. We’ve got the potential to bounce straight back - if Eddie stays.

Continually putting sqare pegs in round holes didn't help. King should have been played up front instead of as a left winger. Playing Smith at left back in favour of specialist left backs was bizarre! Playing Brooks on the right wing when he can do alot more damage in the middle or just behind a striker was another strange decision.

Failing to.play over lapping full backs for part of the season meant that we were easy meat for opponents who were no longer pushed backwards.

Trying to play from the back after the big break didn't help either!

The Fraser situation cost us big time. If it was a money issue then not paying Fraser what he wanted has cost us tens of millions by being relegated.

Which Prem team would want EH now after all that?!

Rant over!

Hope he decides to Stay and/or given the chance to eventually get back up to the PL...

....Big But....if that is the Ambitition and Intention...Next time a bigger stadium has to be organised and funded beforehand...and the Owner must insist on bringing in adequate capable( No Nepotism) staff to Match the Needs..overruling Eddie if needs be.....sorry but essential if we have big ideas!

Those is the Basics....undilutable...cold and bold. If you Joust with the Top Knights you need the right horses and gear...the Best Pigs Serving the Sow !

Brentford have built a better, bigger stadium and they ain't even winning the play offs yet.
Don't call me out about that because plenty of posters have wet their tablecloths about Brentford !

We tried the big spend on players...it didnt work too well....got ripped off several times.
Burnley spent next to ferk-all...and cruised around despite the verbal bruisings. OK they dish out the bruises on the pitch...but they survived....and most of their meagre population these days would be more into a 100 metre backstroke in the effing Ganges river.

Yep. I maintain that being a Championship yoyo club is probably our best chance of some sort of financial progress. Get promoted, spend next to no money on new players and get relegated again. Rinse and repeat. That should see a few hundred million come into the club and not have to be spent on Bentleys and Range Rovers. So promotion before the parachute payments run out, then eventual relegation would be a decent target for the next three seasons.

Echo that - I'd settle for buying the lovely/iconic DC

I think that our strength in the past was actually building a squad that could be developed bringing in the likes of Ritchie,Francis,Cook,Daniels,Pugh, King, and Arter. When we became more established in The PL we tried to buy in almost ‘ready to go’ players that Eddie thought had pedigree like Ibe,BSmith,LCook and Solanke...this changed our ways and maybe the dynamics.
We have seen a few successes like Ake, Callum (until injury ravaged his progress) Brooks and Ramsdale...
A few failures too.....
I think that when the dust has settled and the squad can be finalised we will hopefully have a refreshed mix of young talent like Travers,Mepham,Kelly,Stacey and Surridge. A few really experienced sorts like Cook,Gosling and Stanislas...if we can recruit diligently and find the likes of Franno, Daniels and Pugh to nurture then we will be at least competitive and hungry for more success.
There are so many imponderables at the moment though and the hurt of relegation is raw....so let’s mourn for a short while and then bring on the future!

One thing I would like to see is a self-imposed salary cap to keep things sensible.

If that restricts us in terms of players we can afford then so be it.

Wilson for example wouldn’t be getting much (if any) pay rise going to Spurs and they have a 60k stadium and much more financial clout than we have!

Hate to compare us but Burnley have proven survival and even relative success is possible living within their means.

Build another squad of young, hungry and talented players with a view to selling on when they deserve it.

Can’t help thinking that salary imbalances have played a part in our downward spiral the last two seasons.

Of course I think Eddie is the best choice to start the challenge again but agree he needs to see a vision and firm plan in place.
