QPR v AFC Bournemouth

Quite prepared to take stick for this but a couple of negatives among terrific performances in a good win. For a lone striker, ie the man to put the ball in the net, Dom missed so many chances tonight. Yes he ran and ran, held the ball well but that’s not his primary role is it ? I think we need to try for a natural goal scorer in the Window to take these chances. Thought Billing was back to his old self, so laid back and infuriatingly casual. Too many nonchalant flicks with the outside of his foot straight to the opposition.

Dom missed a sitter, yes, but made up for it. I don't think the other chances were as obvious. I agree an extra natural striker would be good to add some flexibility and competition, but I think Dom's doing well. Also think we need more competition and cover on the right to help kick start Christie into scoring. Stan can play there but not so naturally. With the yellow cards accumulating, it seems inevitable that suspensions will happen, so cover and flexibility will be important.

17 not enough?

Should he have nailed every chance and scored 60 by now?

I don't give a flying f*ck about XG and all that stuff. The only stat that interests me is that we scored a goal, they didn't. How on earth the QPR player who pushed Dom to the ground, half picked him up and then dropped him on his back didn't get a red I don't know.. I've seen people suffer nasty back injuries when that happened.

Part of being a good striker is being in the right place for tge chances as well, which Dom certainly is. He's doing fine. He does need more support, though as it's not good to rely on one person to score all the time.

Not stick, but disagree.

For debates sake, if Solanke is not a natural goalscorer and a goal contribution of 19 in 25 games so far this season, or on average 1 per 130 minutes or so over this season and the whole of last season combined isn’t good enough for this level (that’s on target for 60 goal contributions over 2 seasons). Then how much is this natural goal scorer who contributes everything that Solanke also adds to the team is going to cost? And why would they drop down from the Premier League to join us?

Yeah thought solanke all round play was superb last night and in the end he won us the game... well whole team played well imo, but dom scored.

You could play a more 'natural' striker but we may become less effect overall without Doms all around play.like you say, Dom is on track for 30+ goals this season, which is exceptional. Would a natural scorer really hit 40-50 goals? How often does that happen at this level? When you watch top level games, elite players frequently miss 'easier' chances.

Is stanislas stays fit, I think Dom will get a few more goals by end of the season, compared to Anthony playing.

One hell of a front 3 for this level.

Solanke, like any player, has weaknesses that we can discuss until the cows come home.

Yet he still scored a (great) goal and no other player on the pitch managed that.

.
No chance of that is there
The pass Stan played to the overlapping player early in 1st half was worse than Sunday league. We can a pick out good or bad from rvery player. Yes, Stan at times plays some good stuff, but he is not the consistent high quality every time he is in the pitch that dome people claim
Personally, I wouldn't have given a new contract, but that was just my opinion at season start and it hasn't changed

his work rate was immense last night; closed down their backline, ran the channels, got us up the pitch, even won a few headers and scored the winner

has he played every game this season?
dread to think what would happen if he gets injured....

Solanke must be given credit for turning his game around since relegation. Some might say he's not good enough for the EPL, I think he could be. His confidence is high and he's won us a lot of points. However I'm worried about Anthony, he could have walked that ball into the net, also missed an easy chance previous game. Needs a bit of help from the coaching staff.

Are you really going to single out the one bad pass he made !.......what about all other moments of quality he produced last night?......the beautifully disguised reversed ball to Billing that should have resulted in a goal for Dom?.....the pinpoint set piece that Dom scored from?..... another defense splitting pass to Dom just before he came off?.....in fact he was involved in everything good about our attacking play while he was on the pitch....but yeah let's focus on one bad pass.
If we only get 10 games from him it will more than justify his new contract.

Agree. At current rates Solanke is on target to get 36 goals this season. Not bad for a striker I would suggest. Our problem is getting others to chip in. Last nights midfield, Billing apart, has not troubled the stats guys with goals all season.

Stan is essentially a very good player. The odd pass goes astray, I agree, but that happens to all players. He can pinpoint a cross, corner or free kick so many times I think that justified his place in the team. If only he wasn't so fragile.

Stan was super last night. We need him to stay uninjured and so does Anthony as he needs the competition and influence from the more experienced winger. One thing we've been seriously lacking this season has been a set piece specialist. That's another huge reason why we need him to be available.

He posses something we don't have a lot of elsewhere... flair. Add to that set pieces, he could be the difference in tighter games, where we need moment of inspiration.

Yeah, few of us mentioned he could be one to benefit from relegation. Finally gets run in team, a strong one relative to tge level. Pedigree of Chelsea, then Liverpool shows he must have something about him/potential.

Plus apparently model professional, always working on his game, determined, strong work ethic.

Really pleaes it's working out for him/us.

Question marks over any plater making step up, but not sure he could have dome much better than he has and if keeps improving, would like to think hrs much better equipped to have an impact if we go back up.

Not focusing on anything, just adding a bit of balance to the Stan luv in. Yes, when he's on it, he's great, but he has quiet games, and he misses a lot due to injury, but people default position is over the top. Billing however, their default is negative, I thought he did some great stuff last night but nobody is raving about him.

Every player has the odd quiet game but Stan constantly makes a difference ... especially in tight games which is not something every player does.....that win last night is worth more than just three points tbh.... would we have got them without Stan?.....add up all those match winning contributions at the end of the season and that contract could seem like the best deal we did all year.
