They just got caught up in their own hype and convinced some of their younger and more naive supporters that they were some sort of football superpower. We'd been in the top 2 pretty much all season and they thought they were just going to turn up at our place and our players would sh#t themselves. Fireworks and flags when their coach was setting off wasn't big club stuff, it was cringey and they ended up embarrassing themselves.
The only out for them was to convince themselves and their younger supporters that they were cheated out of their rightful promotion.
It's all a little bit sad when you really think back on it.
