Jordon Ibe

Interesting comparison. Think Cook would win in the football intelligence trump card somehow - yes Cook was awful yesterday as with most of the players.

Stats
Both signed in July 2016

Ibe
62 prem appearances, 2 goals (26 as sub), 6 assists
Frustration index = 9/10 (where do you start)
26 goals as sub?

Ibe was a ‘nearly’ player at Liverpool and so far it seems at our club.

Did well on loan at Derby in the Championship where he scored 5 goals when he was 18-years-old.

So far at our club probably the same applies as when he was at Liverpool.

Imagine lack of confidence has a lot to do with his performances.

Just hope he doesn’t read this MB.

Midfielders roles and playing styles are so varied I don't think you can apply statistics in the same way. A wingers role is much more specific - to get upfield in wide areas with pace, to cross the ball into dangerous areas and to have attempts on goal when the opportunity arises.

Stats are always going to be subjective Clint but you can't use them as a stick to beat one player and not another regardless of their position.

Is that it Druss?... the England under age thing?....jesus wept its not even league 1 standard.

Cherries yesterday completed the club-record signing of Ibe for a fee believed to be around £15million, the 20-year-old putting the finishing touches to a four-year deal after jetting to the club's pre-season training camp in Chicago.

Pundit Redknapp, who earned a move to Anfield after starring for Cherries in the early 1990s, believes England under-21 international Ibe will flourish in Dorset and predicts the winger's price tag will soar as a result.

Pundits for you.

When I said last week that I would rather Pugh played than Ibe I was laughed at by the majority. Granted I did say I would rather he comes off the bench however I would much rather Pugh plays.

How people try and defend Ibe is beyond me. Oh yes well done, he made about 1 block the whole game.

Was lots of clapping when he came off and Saturday and jeers which I think says a lot.

It’s like playing with 10 men when he plays

You got grief for suggesting Pugh was a better option to bring on than Ibe when we need a goal - wrong then wrong now. The truth is we shouldn't be relying on either of them though - not good enough.

the jeers were for ex Sunderland man Defoe coming on, thought that was obvious to everyone.

We should have better, agreed, but Pugh is still 100% a better option over Ibe.

It's a pointless argument if we both don't think either are good enough. Fwiw in my opinion Pugh would be a better option to start with Ibe to come on and exploit tired defenders - as I say I don't think either are good enough. It's a real mystery why Mousset isn't getting a look in - surely him as a direct replacement for King was the right answer here.

There was an issue a few games back where he seemed to ignore a request by JT to get ready. When he got on the pitch he lost the ball in our half doing tricks...they had a proper go at him. Disappeared after that?

Difficult for Eddie to give up on Ibe - generally he is a waste of space but cost a lot of money. Contributes little or nothing to the team and likewise to society in general - probably a millionaire - it’s a funny old world!
I absolutely agree. I believe it was worth signing him at the time because if he had made that step up he could have been great and his value could have doubled or more in the current transfer market. It's tricky to know when to cut the losses really. He either needs to play him and hope something switches inside Ibe or gets rid, sitting him on the bench is the worst option in my opinion.

There just seems to be a degree of nastiness when it comes to criticism of Ibe. He's had a poor season, but he's still young, and there's still plenty of time to improve. Maybe a loan to a Championship team would be good; worked for Fraser after all. He showed last season that he's good enough IMO.

Yeah agree about that. I think the nastiness might be down to him giving off an aura of not caring when he does mess up. To me it's more of a blank expression he seems to have when he loses the ball.

It's hard to say whether he's working every day in training to improve (but surely he is or Eddie wouldn't pick him), but things like not challenging for headers go beyond lack of awareness towards laziness. Fans will always cut more slack to a trier who lacks the quality than the other way around...

But I also weirdly agree about him as a better option from the bench than Pugh if we're losing.

Pugh takes a while to get going and generally tracking back is less of an issue if we're behind. Also Ibe's reputation or price tag seem to go before him and teams either back off or he draws defenders, opening space for others. I have no idea defenders do this why but I can see why Eddie brings him on.

But him starting games is just a terrible idea all round.
