Jermain Defoe

When on this Forum one should always be Correct, Specific ...and one should always seek to Predict the worst possible scenario for the fortunes of one Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic football club so as not to allow it to bring joy ....or sound of rattle.... or chants of zigger zagger, zigger zagger oi oi oi.... or any other such hellraising euphoria to fans of the aforementioned establishment! Nay shall ye peasants extract pleasantries from life at the expense of the good folk of Salford !
But by all means take constitutional sanctuary by strolling along Westcliff and Durley Chine collecting f##king fir cones for which to be painted and placed upon the mantlepiece alongside pictures of f##king Rooney!
I bid you Good moaning!...from Eddies 'Balmy' Army in Cornwall!

Would there be a highest bidder?? Would they pay his current wages?? He would have to agree personal terms. I think this might not have been thought through

He would have to take a significant drop. He needs to realise his age and ‘worth’ decrease year on year. He is still a quality player and would be great for a team

I'm sure a few championship sides would take him, 3 mil per year in wages isn't that bad when you're saving 5-10 mil in transfer fees.

It would be a shame if he is not Great for some team or other.....it sure ain't happening on the field for us ..for whatever reason.......despite what Eddie says about his influence it's a lot of money to keep paying! When he signed there was talk of virtually 15 goals a season.
It could still work out good long term IF he stayed as a coach....if we can still afford him....because a drop in wages just won't happen.

I was delighted after that window that brought in Bego, Ake and JD.

Recall that JD was here in Toronto for a short spell, it was hailed as a major coup to get an established player from the PL. But it landed flat. In the end, it was suggested that he had been injured and didn't reach the promise of a huge impact in MLS. That was only 4 years ago. He was resurgent when he returned to England. I expected more, no doubt the injury in the cup was a turning point for him.

All athletes go through the diminished skills argument at some stage. It's always hard to watch, they still think they can achieve great things and occasionally they can, but the careers do decline at some point. Not many know when to walk away.

I wonder if he will start scoring regularly again at another club, just like Murray has at Brighton.

Murray is around a year younger than Defoe, but Defoe keeps himself very fit.

He will need replacing if and when he does go which would mean a forward coming in this window. Eddie won’t rely on Wilson king and Mousset

Unfortunately, the chances of bringing in a striker of any quality in the January transfer window will be very, very remote as they will be more expensive during this window as they will still be under contract at their clubs along with the simple fact that everybody is always looking for strikers at any time. The best available will be snapped up by the top six.

Which is why we are in the market for players with potential, rather than the very best.

Good point, we should be looking for the very best, nothing less, we need a midfielder, Modric, a right back, well why not Dani Alves
