Non - Brexit

Outside view. Tell me where I am wrong for my own education.

From the US it seems the people were misinformed about why and how to break away from the EU and voted for it by paper thin margins.

Seems the politicians know what a bad decision it is to leave and can’t agree how to do it.

If this is a high level overview my question is why did they let the people vote? And why not make them vote again?

A side question. What do you guys over there think of Trump?

You have your own big problems. Are they still in deadlock with Trump and his wall?
 
I think we're underestimating the PM. She knows this is a no win situation (why else have the brexiteers scuttled undergound and labour not been more vocal with alternatives rather than just giving lip service to objecting to everything).
Her entire period as PM was always going to be dominated by Brexit and would alienate more people than the poll tax managed. She's not stupid and is taking one for the team.
 
Problem is the pm should be taking one for the country

Even better would have been working on a plan B and plan C to show the leadership the country needs.

It was in the Conservative governments election manifesto which David Cameron committed the Tories to - partly to try and fight off the increased popularity of UKIP but the out of touch MP’s of all parties simply assumed everyone would vote to remain - oh dear .

I once thought Cameron was going to be a good PM but he showed how to completely misjudge the British public like no-one thought possible. His ego brought us to this place.
So we now have a situation which will tear the country apart whichever way it ends up going. We leave and the union will be dismantled. How long before indyref2 comes along? We remain and 52% of the voting public will feel betrayed. God only knows where either route will take us.

Trump has had a career being surrounded by yes men, that brought down Thatcher eventually. Like brexit the disenfranchised low expectation areas voted to teach a distant uncaring government a lesson. Unfortunately that has resulted in a problem not a solution, the divide between the haves and have nots is still splitting the nation.

Growing up you had belief and confidence in the offices of state and government and genuine political personalities of stature on all sides , regardless of our own individual beliefs .
The rot set in from Major onwards really and gesture politics and self- serving sound bites from second raters has dragged so much of it to an infantile level at times .

If she's taking one for the team what is she actually trying to achieve? She's been a dead woman walking since she called a general election to increase her majority and proceeded to lose it - so why hasn't she made any progress in two years?

She is the most incompetent PM we've ever had.

I can think of one or two that can fill that role better for a multitude of reasons regardless of personal politics, and they didn't have the complexities of brexit to deal with.
 
Meanwhile - across the water in the US ofA, this comment was made to an article in the New York Times.

Seems the yanks are rubbing their hands with glee at the demise of "England" due to Brexit;

I'm excited to witness the ending to the Brexit tragicomedy, where the ENGLISH economy tanks, the pound plummets, lines for knee replacements through the NHS get longer due to physician shortage from indirectly caused by Brexit, resulting in ENGLAND getting its just deserts. No desserts for the chumocracy.

But she is the only one With a Plan? Not that we have seen one from anyone else !!!....and the public dont get to see the detailed stuff anyway!
She is certainly is not the worst ever PM.....HEATH...Callaghan .....Thatcher ...Blair....Brown!!!!!!!!!!
Would anyone have liked Farage in charge of Brexit?

Perhaps but this one has had only one job, granted it's a difficult job but she has literally made things worse with every decision she has taken.
