AFC Bournemouth v Forest Green Rovers - League Cup

Enjoyed that game, from where I was sat heard some disgusting vitriolic nonsense directed at Rico and Ibe. Both had average performances, but from the way they were carrying on you’d think Ibe and Rico had killed the family dog or something.

Another day we would win that comfortably 3-0.

Keeper made some good saves and some snatched shots.

Tried to go through the middle too much, but not a lot wrong.

Mepham played particularly well.

Travers awesome in penalty shoot off - none of those were easy saves

No effort spared tonight... over there among the pine trees.....no open play goals from Sol yet...even v Div 2 defence under lights...without wishing to be rude and flippant...but £19 K smackers!

Err sorry £19 M badboys!

kilkenny was good, one of our best and most creative players 1st half, busy, used the ball well, but faded second half and lost out in a few 50/50s because of his lack of size/strength

liked most of what I saw of stacey too, and mepham was the only player to look anywhere near pl quality
Pretty much what we thought
Solanke! Looked like a new born foal whenever the ball reached him - just kept falling over , front line just didn’t impose themselves enough in both halves ...
Well done Travers for keeping his concentration throughout the match to then make those saves ....

He’s very quick to react and agile for a big keeper - we look to have a couple of v decent young keepers now with our big Pole as back up ...

I guess it depends how Kilkenny looked along with the fitness of Stanislas and Danjuma. Without them as viable options we'd be too light without him.
Kilkenny played v well in first half - got into pockets of space , looked comfortable and always trying to pick a pass forward rather than just sideways and backwards ...
Did fade second half but pretty decent overall.

Solanke was a fairy tonight, joke 19m, he clearly couldn't be bothered and even his pen was lazy. Ibe tried too hard, just not good enough no end product and frustrating. Callum was a disgrace and Surman was back to his sideways best. Only people I'd give credit tonight are H.Wilson who was clearly our best player tonight but for some reason was taken off. Kilkenny did ok but thought he'd be on wing, Mepham & Simpson did ok but against no threat whatsoever and well done to Travers for the pen saves. Stacey was not motm very hit and miss but it was his 1st game.

I thought Mepham and Simpson were an excellent partnership tonight. Didnt put a foot wrong all game

my scores for what it's worth
Travers 7- fine all night, even before pens
Stacey 6 Rico 6 Mepham 7, Simpson 6 [lets face it FGR were no great threat but still managed to give us hairy moments]
Ibe 6, Kilkenny 6, Surman 5 H.Wilson 5
Solanke 5 C Wilson 3

Weeman 6, King 5, Billings 5

Basically we were poor with little creativity and what little we had was wasted as we were playing with 2 forwards who seemed to be having a private game of statues

Cup games tend to bring out some of our most disgusting fans...

It’s great to see these games full with lots of new and different faces, but as a fan, you need to earn your stripes... Watch the team and get educated in who’s who and what’s what... and then, when you’ve put the time in, you can spout your crap (preferably in your head). Some of the utter bollox I heard tonight just highlights how ignorant some of our fans (new and old) are.

Regardless of who they were, there was actually another professional team out there tonight and whilst we were naturally expected to win, we had no god given right to be 10-0 at half time...

Yes we weren’t at our best tonight but let’s not go OTT. FGR defended admirably and it’s not easy to break down 11 men behind the ball... we’re through and we move on to Saturday.
