Arsenal v AFC Bournemouth

to sure how many will agree but I once again thought Rico was one of our better players ..so much of our attacking threat came though him . Or maybe I just pay more attention to him as he is so divisive on this forum ..I also felt Stacey had a good game going forward .
Yeah depends which way you view it ....defensively i thought it was his best game and his delivery into the box is excellent....it's just watching him play out is painful to watch....he can't do it.

I thought we defended well for a change but the 1st half was a big letdown and someone should be on Luiz for the goal. Better 2nd half but we could've done more if we had kept the ball better and were more clinical and decisive in the final third. Rico, Cook & Billing did well. Solanke kept ball to long and was frustrating as usual as he ran into players and played with back facing goal. Ibe part 2. H.Wilson was quite meek apart from a few good turns.

Solanke did strike me as very Ibe’ish today ..not as bad though.

edited to say ,I think he came unstuck thinking he can run at two or three defenders like he did against WHU and still get a pass off . Arsenal probably have a better standard of player individually as He found out consistently running into dead ends .

All in all an extremely annoying performance.....in no way does the second half performance atone for that pathetic first half showing......Harry Wilson is a championship player ...yet again offers absolutely nothing.... if he keeps his place then something is wrong.....Rico still cant find one of our players with a 5 yard pass....i actually wish he'd just stick to what hes good at and just lump it up field... hes got a great left foot.....if we are going to play out from the back someone who is unable to pass under pressure can't be an option.
My God some people just don’t understand the game. There’s a reason that Rico and H Wilson (or any of our players) couldn’t make a five yard pass in the first half, it’s because we tried to pass out from the back with two flat lines of four, while at the same time being outnumbered in midfield. It clearly was never going to work. In the second half a mixture of H Wilson playing more centrally and EH clearly telling the players to go more direct and hitting Callum down the channels meant that we could play our football further up the pitch and we were no longer outnumbered in midfield. This meant we could get a grip on the game. Both Rico and H Wilson were great in the second half when they were given an opportunity to utilise their talents properly. We set up wrong from the start but even then if it wasn’t for Callum falling asleep from a corner we would have picked up a point. The back four defensively were all very good throughout including Rico.

H Wison was' great in the second half'......lol i clearly don't understand the game....either that 'some people' are either very easily pleased or just full of :poop:..

Bit of a let down, though, I felt going in that we were on the cusp of something very special. We have looked ourselves in the prior two matches and I thought we would expose their shaky defenders. Not sure why we played as we did in the first half, with two strikers and also King up front but very few attempts to get the ball up to them. Agree that second half was better, and better still when Fraser came on. Feels, yet again, like we have dropped a point that we should have taken.

Thought a point was there for us today but having gone behind after 9 minutes we did well to keep in the game.

After 11 games think we have a decent perspective on the table and our only 3 defeats have come to sides in 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the table. Now need two wins vs Norwich and Watford by end of the month.
Followed by another over Man U!

Not a dig but I wonder if this was the problem. Thinking that beating Arsenal is "something very special" is the sort of thing that can lead to stagefright

This is why I get frustrated when some on here treat it as such as well. This is a very defensively inept Arsenal that have conceded two to Villa and been lucky to escape and two to Watford and were an open goal away to losing that one.

We still have half a fan base that jacks off at the thought of just walking out at the Emirates. We need to think like the team we are. I think we have as good a squad as Arsenal. As a club and a fan base we need to stop our ground size dictating the way we think. Way too much respect out there first half and the wrong formation picked for an away game against a footballing side. Solanke should have been nowhere near that starting line up, nor Harry and it showed.

So was Solanke worse than King?

Whoa. Chaps... we are not allowed to question Solanke on here. He is the next Ronaldo... I bet Christiano only scored 1 goal in his first 50 games. He just needs time remember....

That's just an expected bullish*t comment that you are famous for though Neil! Its not that Solanke [ or anyone else ] is immune from questioning when needed....its more that some on this forum just NEED to have a target. As Ibe isn't in the picture....I assume you and the others scour the line up to see who could be selected next? Give it a rest.

"Solanke should have been nowhere near that starting line up"...based on three solid performances from him, where we won two, drew one.....sounds a bit daft.

So was Solanke worse than King?

Not today. But in his career yes. Plus King is playing in a position that doesn’t suit him to accommodate Solanke. King should be in a wide front three position with few defensive responsibilities and the license to hurt. Or at centre forward if Wilson gets injured or drops form. Keep playing him wide midfield or at number ten and he will have off days.

Solanke is playing in his preferred position and is at the moment not up to it.

My big fear is when Brooks is back he will be sat on the bench with Lewis Cook watching Harry play because when it comes to either transfer fees or picking sides we lick Klopps ring piece with obsessional joy.

Pretty sure it was the same formation in both halves Neil...:hmmm:.....agree that Solankie and Harry Wilson shouldn't be in the starting line up......although according to your twin brother Waza this obviously means that like me you don't understand the game....:D
