England Squad

Southgate has got his tournaments figured out. better managers than him have failed at getting England set for a tournament. You don't play the opposition you play the tournament and the number of games and the space between games. So Southgate has figured out a way to win games, and advance in tournaments and take care of the players. You can't play PL pace for 2,3, 4 games in a week period. You have to be sensible about it

Sure there have been better managers, more exciting football, but sorry, Southgate is by far the most successful** manager since Ramsey

**Success defined as tournament progress

Not to mention the off the pitch stuff. It's difficult because players always sing the praises of the current manager but there does genuinely seem to be fewer cliques and unrest. Although Ben White may disagree.

And I think this is the reason why some players are picked when not playing, over players that are in form. It is so important to get the squad togetherness - similar to a club team. You can't get that with chopping and changing each cycle.

All the talk about Dom… but how about Lewis Cook… rather have him than Henderson any day of the week!

Toney is the media’s golden boy for some strange reason?

Southgate is a Dork!
Lewis Dunkey with that woeful header , then we’re all out of shape at the back …

Two reasons really. Firstly style of football is not important at international level. None times out of ten you play against ten men behind the ball and it's dross.

Secondly people like you have been moaning about how boring England are for decades on end. We've been through the actual performances during these so called glory days and they were bang average. England went for it against France and got beat - and people like you still moan. You deserve what you get.
I've only been moaning about how boring England are since GS took over. And sweeping generalisations about people you don't know and have never met isn't a good balanced look.

Maybe be better when 2 of our main attackers are back.

We lost some momentum with the subs a bit .

Brazil probably deserved to win on chances .

England trying to dominate possession without ever creating any chances. This is Southgate football. England lost to a desperately out of form Brazil tonight at Wembley. Southgate refuses to take any risks and this is why he won't win anything, ever. Total snoreball !!

And yes, I did celebrate the Brazil goal, but half my household is Brazilian, so.....

That’s an interesting comment as I didn’t recognize any momentum. Just an another boring England performance with almost no goal action. I recognize how difficult England are to beat under Southgate but oh dear, it certainly takes a strong constitution and immeasurable patience to watch them.

Maybe true but we seemed to have some good possession early in the 2nd half with Bellingham getting more involved but yes cannot say we had many clear chances .

We had some good possession against Italy and France and we lost both games, coward manager, he can't compete against serious nations.

Incredible how he continues to not maximise any of the talent and excitement available to him.
Although 2 of the best ones were unavailable tonight but then others who ought to be better are right out of form Rashford and Foden didn’t get into the game as much .

If anything Gordon looked the main threat for a bit .

We need Eddie to take the reins and develop the players…improve the energy in attack and generally bond the squad

If Newcastle sack Eddie end of season I think he's the natural choice who else would? Yeah theres a few better foreign managers out there but they aren't going to take the England job.

The thing beggars belief.....I mean what else can be said about it.
This is England we are talking about....Alf Ramsey's England....Alfred Ernie Ramsey was a right back in Southampton's Third Division South team from 1943 to 49...then Spurs in the old Div One.....a slow but methodical right back...who had enough f√cking gumption and nous to Win a Div One title for little Ipswich in their first season after promotion from Div 2.....then won the f√cking World Cup for England ..in a tracksuit !
..I don't reckon our Alf would have tolerated friggin Pink in Our Flag or our playing strip !
