England Squad

All the talk about Dom… but how about Lewis Cook… rather have him than Henderson any day of the week!

Toney is the media’s golden boy for some strange reason?

Southgate is a Dork!
It’s all about Ross Barkley not making it in the media but cookie is a better bet than calvin phillips and Ross better than Henderson now

Also dom better than Toney

I love Dom but the idea that he's definitely ahead of Watkins and Toney is silly. He's had one good season in the top flight and even that isn't really any better than those two stats wise.
Take away penalties and Toney has never scored as many goals as Dom in a season and we are not finished yet. How does Toney have better stats?

So when you said 'we' had no one at Dunk's level who was 'we'?
WE ( Boscombe) have NO ENGLISH defenders at the level of Maguire and Dunk.
That's what I think I meant...but I did type it in a bit quick...so if it didn't make sense I'm sorry.
I don't tend to look back at my posts..I just let the buggers crash land and that's it.
Brighton would never have got where they are without Dunk...and that's in Europe tonight !

4-0 down to Roma.

Water-tight defence led by Dunk.

Watkins as well can play as a winger. Not sure whether Toney is still better than Dom but as Dom's had injury issues, this is a blessing I think. Dom's time will come.

I don't know why you would take away penalties tbh, would you take away Dom's tap ins from when opposition players have gifted him the ball?

Either way Toney's stats this season are on par with Dom's and he's shown consistency across multiple seasons unlike Dom. Don't get me wrong Don is certainly making his case for call up but unless you're a Bournemouth supporter I don't think he's clearly ahead of Toney if at all.

Toney and Watkins are probably, ultimately, going to be ahead of Solanke for now.

Personally, I feel like Solanke is a character that you’d want in a squad. Very hardworking, unproblematic, been through all the youth setups. Plus, I think his style of play is the most similar to Kane’s. So in terms of having a player to actually deputise for Kane, I don’t see anyone doing that job better. Toney isn’t really a runner (though his range of passing and technique is very good), and Watkins is just as much a pacy wide forward (not dissimilar to Rashford).

I think it’s also a bit unfair for Solanke’s season to be discounted by the setup, at the expense of a noted prick that flouted betting rules and has barely had a kick this year. He’s the form “pure” striker in the league. I think he should’ve been given a chance. I wouldn’t discount penalties for the sake of an argument necessarily, but him having the most non-penalty goals is a very decent argument for his play being of a high quality.

If he finishes the season strongly he might get a chance, especially if Toney's form isn't great.

It just seems to me like every England squad announcement is greeted with "its a disgrace" because he doesn't pick people's favourite player. There won't be many outside of Bournemouth who think that it's a disgrace Solanke didn't make it. As for picking his favourites, well you have to have continuity and experience in these tournaments.

No shockers there really to be honest be surprised he actually dropped Phillips!

Henderson is fine to have in and around the squad for a tournament (this is the likely squad). Need to remember there’s much more than the games and with his experience Liverpool, that’s pretty important.

Defence looks abit week but once you add TAA, Trippier and Shaw then that looks better. I’d imagine one of Palmer or Gordon gets dropped for them, alongside 2 of the centre backs.

Dom has done very well this season but Toney last year was on fire and has got 4 goals already. Tight call but imagine it was Toney’s shirt to lose

There are PLENTY of people outside Bournemouth dismayed.

Also, its something Ive touched on yet but what message does it send that you can break rules, be banned for almost a year and as soon as you are back you are picked ahead of one of the form players in the league? What terrible optics for junior footballers.

As for your last point, maybe we should take Rooney and Lineker? Southgate is a joke with his selections.
