Blackburn - The Verdict

I’m happy, it’s a win. Desperately needed as this team is still low on confidence and lacks momentum and positivity. The first 20 mins of the second half I thought was our most encouraging.
Danjuma was obviously a big positive.
Lermas questionable form from post lockdown seems to have continued IMO but so pleased for him to have got a goal. Just got the feeling him and Kellys’ minds weren’t total focussed on a championship season, as with Brooks when he came on.
Stacey grew into the game very well, him and Smithy bombing forward can be a big threat for us.
At odds with some people as I thought Lewis Cook had one of his better games of late. Didn’t start that well but ended up with some good vision for passes that change the shape of play and open things up. He was getting around the pitch very well in the second half. Bit disappointed for Stan as he had great form post lockdown but didn’t quite click for him.

Biggest issue that stuck out is that we still look a bit disjointed with the style of play, doesn’t flow like a team that is in the groove. Think we really need to sort midfield out. Need the ‘bridge of the ship to sail the boat’.

If we can get past the end of the transfer window with a bit of positive momentum then hopefully some focus will return to the squad and we can push on.

It was definitely a 3-4-3 rather than 5-2-3 yesterday as the average positions clearly illustrates.

Sure playing nominal full backs instead of wingers gives a different interpretation of the role but when one of the full backs scores, the other gets an assist and both were taking advanced positions in the attacking phase, then we can’t have too many complaints.

It will take time to fully perfect the system but at least we’ll be working on this every day rather than just a few days prep ahead of an inevitable defeat to Man City or whoever.

Ramsdale didnt end up fking off!+ as you say!!!!! He was sold for a 20million pound profit!! The lad didnt ASK for a transfer he was sold. Get your fking facts right!
He also saved our sorry asses on more occasions than anyone else last season.

Not exactly how it panned out. He didn't ask for a transfer as that would have cost him his slice of the fee. However 'his people' made it all happen for him whilst he disingenuously claimed blissful ignorance.
