He played LB for Watford and did very well there. With Daniels getting up there in age I think he could be his future replacement or even start ahead of him depending on how he looks next year. Yes we like our FB's to bomb forward but i don't see why he couldn't grow into that kind of LB. He's got pace, good passing and awareness. Would be better than Daniels defensively too in my opinion.

We still don't know how Mings will look at LB in the PL (although I think he'll be good if played there). I think having a guy like Ake who can be a quality starter at LB, CB and CDM is exactly what we need to ensure we don't have a repeat of our poor defensive depth this season.
