Iturbe played as many times and scored in the champions league and he wasn’t good enough to play for us.

You will find the big clubs cruise their rounds so play the reserves in the dead rubber games at the end of the group stages.
 
Sorry, me again. What people should be asking is who was picking up Hamer? He was allowed to stroll unmarked into the box and smash it in unopposed. The keeper did his job, he kept the first shot out. Defending is a team job not just the keepers responsibilty. Focussing on one player is something this forum does a lot. Football is a team game.

There was another goal that we conceded where Zab and him let the Fulham forward nip in to score. Someone like Boruc would have just cleaned everyone out to get the ball.

Neto would never come for crosses, which cost us, now he wants to punch everything, which is costing us. Just catch the ball!!

I do like his passion but seriously channel that into aggression and he would be a better keeper.

Is Neil Moss still around or something :D

Agree. But I never said that. Some of the 'mistakes' he is being blamed for are team mistakes not just him.

I have played in a team that couldn't defend. I had to do a lot of work, make a lot of saves and concede a lot of goals. I was still considered one of the better players in the team. If opposing teams are having too many shots that is not the goalkeepers fault. It is mistakes per shots faced, not just mistakes made that matters. We allow a lot of shots, so if you work out Neto's mistakes per shots against, I think you'll find he is top half in the league. Everything is relative and must be viewed in context.

I did think that Meps was a little flat footed in reacting to the palm out yesterday, but still feel like it was a mistake to put the ball there to begin with

This. And anyway it doesn't matter what the fans think. Only what AI and the coaching staff think. That's why they earn the big bucks.

Not saying it was ideal, just that if an opposing striker has a free shot in the box what are the defenders doing and why should they be not held to account along with the keeper?

For sure, I think both Kerkez before the save and Meps after the save could have done better but its the pattern that is emerging that makes me nervous about Neto not just isolated incidents.

Not at all. Just that some on here think they could manage the team better than the actual manager. Opinions are fine and debate is interesting. But some on here truly believe they could do better than AI. It is those people I take issue with.

They don’t though do they… I don’t think anyone on here believes they could do better than Al.

I’ve been critical of many managers on here in my time. Probably the worst of those was Paul Groves. I still believe he knows 100 times more about managing a football club than I do.
