Non- Dorset councils

No doubt Imax 2 and Surf Reef 2 are on the cards. Overgrown grass verges, yet more cycle lanes and anti car measures and the inevitable Council Tax rises. Interesting and disappointing to note Independent does not always mean independent.

The "Independent group of Bournemouth" is technically the "Independent group of Muscliff and Throop". Its the 3 elected by that ward. All good people but not exactly representative of the whole town.

Hopefully, it's about time there was some form of congestion charging introduced.

You will when you're stuck in gridlock in the summer.
Some may not be too happy about an extra tenner on their ST for the ladies games but there could be a possibility of say an extra fiver, perhaps each way, to go and watch a game if a congestion charge comes in. An ill thought out yet another tax on the motorist.

The motorist doesn't pay anything like enough to cover the costs to people's health of their choice to drive.

One of them, Lisa Northover, is a former Lib Dem who has been a councillor before (Boscombe West if I remember correctly) and also stood for Parliament here in (I think) 2005.

I'm interested to know if you have figures for this chief? Or if its your general outlook; which if it is, means we're onto a slippery slope of choices people make that impact others...

Ran a quick Google and found this site. Seems to indicate damage from diesels in way in excess of electric and petrol vehicles...

https://www.globalactionplan.org.uk/news/the-health-costs-of-air-pollution-from-cars-and-vans

I only glanced at site for 30 seconds, and some of the shock bullet points warrant further investigation imo, as you can dress anything up a certain way, depending on your agenda. Not say the headings are false of course, but still.

IMO the whole thing around working remotely, and emissions drop, quality of air increase etc could have been really 'driven home' during lockdowns, but the fact the government didnt grasp the opportunity, once again indicates where priorities lie. Global warming and that kind of thing is of course near top of their priority list if you were to ask them directly, but actions demonstrate otherwise.

Overgrown grass verges are well proven to be a haven for wildlife. It was also a ridiculous waste of money. Paid for by our council tax.

Cycle lanes required to provide safe places for families to ride their bikes, often away from heavily congested, unsafe and polluted roads.

More know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

What happened to the benefits from the multi million transformation projects the separate councils spent our money on?

Be nice to know what the council have spent all our money as I here they are millions in debt and closing the nursery which suppliers all the plants for the gardens and areas arround town, what are they going to do, buy them in? Or are we going to be looking at empty gardens and grass not cut
