That's never held Lewis Cook back.

I think Cook is. He's just not the kind of all action def mid or attacking threat... more in the mould of a Surman style midfielder, who many fans also didn't rate for similar reasons.

Hes a very 'tidy', intelligent plsyer. Good at reading the game, keeping the ball moving, retaining posession. Makes things look simple due to his ability in doing that well. Probably appreciated more by players/manager than many fans as doesn't 'appear to do much'.

Surman actually had a good range of passing though, and an ability to open his body up when receiving the ball to keep play ticking over at pace. Cook rarely attempts a pass over ten yards, mostly passes backwards, and takes an age to release the ball when he has it. He does some good work off of the ball, granted, but on the ball he is severely lacking and Surman is well clear imo.

Not sure about well clear, but certainly up for debate mate.

He didn’t always play so conservative. He often played the Hollywood pass, not as effectively as Kilkenny granted, but he has the ability. If he’s playing safer passes then that’s the role he’s been asked to play.

Have we ever played Cook and Kilkenny together?
