AFC Bournemouth v Cardiff City

Surman 80% pass success, Gosling 77%. Surman dispossessed once, Gosling twice.

I'm not arguing that Gosling didn't have a better game, he absolutely did, but to say Surman was giving the ball away constantly is just inaccurate.
I don’t know where you get your stats from but Surman lost or gave the ball away with poor passes consistently throughout the game

As we controlled the midfield for the vast majority of the game I would say Gosling and Surman both did their jobs as needed.

Fair report from the Welsh site.

And Bournemouth took a deserved lead midway through the opening half as Wilson beat Bruno Manga on the right before squaring to Fraser who made no mistake from close range.

Eddie Howe's men grew in confidence and fed off the passionate home support as Josh King drilled an effort wide of Etheridge's goal just before the half hour mark.

And the Cherries had a golden opportunity to double their advantage as referee Kevin Friend pointed to the spot after ruling that Manga had tripped Wilson in the penalty area.

Wilson stepped up to take the spot-kick himself, but Etheridge got down low to his left to pull off a magnificent save to keep the score at 1-0.

...if Gosling and Surman are the answer then I don’t want to know the question!Good win but that team will struggle against better teams...hopefully Cook and Lerma will end up being the answer...man of the match for me was Smith...Brooks had a tidy debut. Wilson has lost his edge and King was knackered by 75 minutes!...
Well said Garbo, don’t know why Eddie does not use his subs earlier, are midfielders where hanging out there ass after about 70 mins, are attackers where hanging out there ass the same. Really need to get the new signing up to speed as we are really lacking in midfield now Arters gone. Reminds me of last season

Let’s hope we can have a win for once on the first day of a new season in the Premier League after three defeats.

Looking forward to going back to Dean Court tomorrow to see our club perform in the top league for a fourth season.

They did and gave us the result we wanted.

Happy tonight.

Got to the ground just before 2.30 pm due to traffic.

Wife dropped me off in Thistlebarrow Road and I walked around corner to see loads of people gathering by the gate to enter DC and the side lane coming from the Park.

Got closer and it was a queue for Block B of the Main Stand, the entrance I go in.

Never joined a queue that far back for a very long time, usually the furthest back has been just to the end of the club shop.

The divide for the 2 turnstiles for Block B Bill was too close to the turnstiles. I ended up half way down the emergency services entrance by the flats. Luckily the queue kept moving but we were resigned initially to gain entrance close to the kick off.

After all this time the club should really be sorting these things out as "we" the fans arrive at a time convenient to our circumstances not the time pre determined by the club. I don't notice similar problems when I circumnavigate other grounds pre match.

surman selection most likely influenced by cook playing for england in the toulon tournament over the summer and less fresh, saving him for bigger challenges

Cardiff might break Derby's points record this season, they were awful, they can only play the high ball into the area game. Can't see them scoring more than 30 goals this season.

I was surprised he dropped Lewis Cook today but not surprised he played Wilson, who I thought was awful, gave the ball away nearly every time, we very nearly payed the price for his team selection and against very poor opposition.

Excellent to get off to a good start. Yes Cardiff aren't very good but you can only beat what's in front of you. We will need to up our game a little against West Ham but great to get 3 points more already than we had after 4 games last season.

Also nice to see us second in the table albeit for 24 hours

...just hope that we see Lerma soon, and hopefully Rico will get some gametime after his suspension..hope Eddie doesn't stall on replacing the 'old guard' we do need to move forward not just stagnate..

Begovic
Smith
Cook
Ake
Daniels
Ibe
Surman
Cook
Fraser
King
Wilson...then tomorrow :)

Snubs; Boruc/Brooks/Gosling/Mousset/Defoe/Mings/Francis

reckon this will close to the team that Howe will field?[/QUOTE

we did not control the midfield throughout the game I was watching. Lewis Cook should have been on instead of Surman from the start, one must assume he’s carrying some sort of injury.
