The standard of refereeing

Regarding Fraser, I have to admit his tumbles and subsequent banging on the ground is starting to frustrate me, let alone referees and opposition players. He does it far too consistently for refs to not know about it.

And now he probably only gets half of the "real" fouls as a consequence.

Half is more than he used to get when he was getting kicked all over the pitch.

He is getting fouled professionally much more than ever so must find it frustrating to be on the break and get upended constantly. Is it any wonder he exaggerates fouls?

It's weird to blame players. They are professionals getting a result for themselves and their team. When laws and regulations are poorly applied in any field those who take advantage of that laxity succeed and those who don't fall away.

Players dive as heavily evidenced by studies because the rewards are worth the risk.

Same for time wasting, niggling fouls and physicality. Bigger clubs will also use their influence to punish opponents and officials via the media.

as usual, I'm probly in a minority. I thought the Ref was fine. he was clearly trying to let the game flow, and not blowing whenever someone goes to ground, which is difficult to stick to in the modern climate. the weeman was losing out to physical battles due to his size more than foul play. king was going down too easily at the start, as he tends to do. he soon learnt the ref wasnt a pushover, then cleaned up his act. the brooks "foul" I cant comment on, not seen a replay. I think the ref may have thought he slightly lost control at the end, and overstretched. I do think the refs have discussed our "professionalism" in one of their regular meetings several weeks ago, and that is probably working against us now. for the neutral, that is a good thing. for an afcb fan, not so.

The ref was fine says the poster who cant find any pro afcb decision in matches against the big clubs this season.

Managers, players and fans cheated by highly paid professionals who are not up to the job.

More of the 50/50 decisions went against than for us us but its being exagerated and didn't impact on the result.

Fraser going down easily and, on occasion, simply diving is not something I like to see from our players.

King hardly touched one of their players in a race for the ball and was pulled up for it. When their players were doing it all the time.
The Brooks incident. He went pass one player who pushed him then Otamendi came in and he lost the ball in a bad tackle. The game should of been pulled back for the push if he thought it was a fair tackle.

didn't impact on the result.

The behaviour of Mr Friend did influence the match, City defenders had licence to foul, City players realised they would get the rub of the green for corners, throw ins. What odds that City would have been awarded a penalty or free kick if the score was still level at 90+ minutes ?

If Fraser is diving as alleged the ref should show him the yellow card, just like any player in a big club.....

Just watched the Saints match, two clear penalties not given against the home side. Disgusting even if it was Saints.
That game and ours proves without doubt the refs are told to influence games in favour of the top six.

No matter how poor the officials are, and they are, that sort of comment is just plain ridiculous and obviously untrue.

Its not, if it was untrue it would mean the refs are just plain incompetent. Why would they keep their jobs.

There was clear bias yesterday as there has been from Refs and linos all season and ever since we came up. Lets not forget the 4 terrible offside decisions in 2 consecutive matches earlier this season. Yesterday Friend protected City but penalised Bournemouth. Every 50/50 went to them too. We got a talking to for winning the ball but taking the man, King was tackled from behind and brought down without a touch on the ball and play carried on. As for the laughable throw in decision in the first half...

Well it did influence if there was a handball that led to the only goal. Mepham boruc and Durham clearly thought there was.

If we had got three clear free kicks near their penalty area we would have avoided the no attempts on goals tag.

Can you explain why at least one of those penalties were not given?
Also Lakaku was clearly offside for his goal too.
The refs are either doing it blatantly or just blind.

Glad you mentioned that throw in decision in the first half. The linesman didn't put his flag up at all. The ref certainly had no idea whose throw it was and had to make a decision - so he gave it to City much to the anger of those near the incident. Does anyone seriously believe that if the same happened at their ground that we would get the throw.
